The Lifeblood of Trees

The Lifeblood of Trees

Resins are essentially dried sap. They are found in resin ducts or channels within specific plant tissues. When the plant is damaged, the resin oozes out of these ducts and hardens upon exposure to air, forming a protective barrier over the wound.

Where are they found?

Where are they found?

Resins originate in different parts of the world, Myrrh & Frankincense are from East Africa & India, Benzoin is usually found in Indonesia and Copal in Mexico. It's extracted by making incisions in the bark of a tree, allowing the sap to ooze out. Over time, the sap hardens and forms resinous tears or droplets.
